The financial and growth pressures we face are evident to everyone.
Woolwich needs leadership over the next 4 years to guide the conversation at Council and in the Community. To oversee staff and hold them accountable on budgets, projects and finding efficient solutions.
Over the past 4 years I have demonstrated that leadership at Council. Challenging reports and staff proposals, costs and direction, while providing ideas to improve.
Our Council meetings on August 11th and September 15th demonstrate your choice in leadership. The Region’s salt dome which we use for Woolwich was condemned. I led the push for other options and made a difference. Instead of spending $300,000 each year over the next 5 years ($1.5 million), we will invest $250,000 once for a temporary dome. That’s over $1.25 million in savings over the next 5 years. Simply by speaking up as your Councilor when others were silent.
The update on our Water/Wastewater accounts this week showed a continued lack of urgency to fix a $1 million deficit this year. I spoke up for immediate action with the Region and property owners that create more costs. Simply watching the deficit continue year after year isn’t an option.
Leadership means offering solutions. Not repeating the problem or staying silent. Council meetings are our chance to be heard and make a difference. Watch our meetings on YouTube and ask- Who has spoken up?
My voice on Council the last 4 years has generated solutions and worked collaboratively with others. I have the same track record as Chair at Ontario Pork, and in my own business.
I’m ready to lead our Township as Mayor.
Leadership…… It’s how we move forward.
